"Elbow streeted Cattistock" - William Barnes, Dorset poet

The village lies in Frome Valley mid-way between Dorchester and Yeovil and is what many people imagine a Dorset village should be. Cattistock boasts a church, a pub, a shop, a village hall
and a wealth of friendly local residents!

The church, St Peter and St Paul, has an impressive tower housing a peel of eight bells and a clock
which chimes the the quarter hours. There is also a William Morris window and a very ornate font.
It is mentioned in the Pesvner guide to Dorset architecture as a masterpiece of Dorset churches.

The Fox and Hounds dates back over three centuries providing a friendly, relaxed atmosphere,
great home cooked food and good beer.

You won't go hungry in Cattistock as the Village Store offers a wide range of provisions including the famous Dorset Knob biscuit. The shop also is the local Post Office.

The Savill Hall provides a wide variety of activities on many days of the week including
Badminton, Ping Pong, Short Mat Bowls and a Strech Excerise session and also hosts many local events
such as Talks, Jumble sales, The W.I. and more....
